Cornell Gheorghe Giuca, 88, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at St Francis Hospital in Evanston, IL.

He was born on August 9, 1926 in Gradinari, Romania to Iosif and Olimpia (Rotariu) Giuca.

Cornell grew up in Romania. He attended the Polytechnic University of Timisoara, Romania where he graduated with a master’s degree in electrical engineering. He then began work in Bucharest, Romania as a professor for the Military Academy, followed by managing Import Foreign trade for the Chamber of Commerce until 1980, when he immigrated to the United States of America.

Cornell married Anne on July 9, 1950 in Moldova Noua, Romania. They were happily married for over 64 years.

During his younger years, Cornell was nominated as District representative for the Romanian Baptist Youth in Caras-Severin, Romania where he organized the Baptist National Congress.

Later in life, Cornell was very involved with the Romanian Baptist Church in Chicago, IL where he was a valuable member, treasurer and deacon.
He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.

Cornell is survived by his loving wife Anne; his son Cornel (Mihaela) Giuca of Janesville, WI; his daughter Rodica (John) Mangiurea of Mundelein, IL; his grandchildren Simon, Irene, Katherine, Christina, and Anne-Marie, and his loving nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives.
