He also loved to watch classic movies from Casablanca to the Godfather, and he loved to listen to and watch Elvis. I was so sorry to hear of Jorge's passing. We were teammates on the cross country team at SIU many years ago. I remember Jorge would say when he arrived in Carbondale he finally got a chance to run for the "Big U." He was such a fun guy to be around and we had a lot of laughs. I lost track of him when he graduated until August 2010 he came back down to Carbondale to attend Gina Breen's SIU graduation party. I surprised Jorge when he arrived and we spent hours reminiscing about the good times running for the "Big U." We sure had a nice reunion with Paul Bergoetter and Tom Breen while he was here in 2010. We will miss Jorge and I will be praying for God's peace and comfort for the family during this difficult time. His legacy will always be remembered in the memories we will carry with us the rest of our lives. Bill Laser, Carbondale, IL.

This was truly shocking news and I am deeply saddened to hear of his untimely passing. Jorge was so generous and I am very grateful he was a friend of my parents so that I got to meet him, work for him and hang out with him on many occasions. I am also thankful for the many things he taught me regards business and Spanish and life in general. I am also glad that the last time I saw him was when leaving him to the train to Chicago after my graduation party in Southern Illinois that he so kindly attended. He was the life and soul of every room he entered and his jovial nature will be missed. May he rest in peace knowing how much people cared about him, respected him and appreciated him in life.

I received the sad news tonight from an old college running friend. George and I had many long-distance runs together in and around Carbondale Illinois, in the early 80s, I had the privilege to talk to him by telephone this past year. I will always remember and cherish our friendship from all those years ago.
