Obituary:
Ernesto was born on Nov. 7th, 1957 to his loving parents Epifanio and Blandina Fuentes in Mexicali, Mexico. He joined a small, but growing family of his parents and older sisters Alicia and Andrea, may they rest in peace. In death, Ernesto is reunited with them as well as his brother Raul, maternal grandparents Elias and Rosario Mayoral, paternal grandparents Meliton Fuentes and Andrea Valencia, and his only son Adan, whom he loved so dearly.

In 1960, Papa Epi and Mama Nina moved their family to California. He grew up on Lincoln at his longtime family home, stirring up trouble in the neighborhood with his “Logan Boys”. His mischievous and free spirited nature never left him-- truly allowing him to live up to his “Born To Raise Hell” tattoo. During his time on the West coast, Ernesto grew from a boy into a man, met the love of his life, Chavela, and started his own family before moving to Chicago in 1986.

There was never a dull moment with him, as he was always cracking jokes and looking for his next adventure. Though not vain, he would never be caught without a comb in his pocket and his favorite pair of shades. He enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren important life lessons, all his favorite card games, and above all how to fight for what you love. Ernesto’s good nature helped him to build lifelong friendships and solidified his place as a leader amongst his peers. In his final years, he dedicated himself to being a pillar of the community by advocating for the members of his retirement community. Always a humble man, he would first go hungry than to ignore a person in need.

Ernesto, 61, passed away early on January 26th in Chicago, where he lived and raised his family. He is survived by the mother of his children, Maria; his daughters, Erika, Nina, Cindy, and Adriana; his sons-in-law, Roberto Soria and Miguel Hernandez; his grandchildren, Jailyn and Robert Soria; his siblings Francisco, Elias, and Marisa; his nieces and nephews; and so many more whom he considered family and loved him so much.
