Kerry Alyssa Dixon was age 41. She passed away peacefully at home on June 9, 2018. She was born August 30, 1976 in Livingston, Alabama to Jacqueline (Barber) Dixon and John Webster. Kerry was brilliant and had degrees in multiple disciplines.
She had a Bachelor of Art in English from Michigan State University, a Master of Arts Study in Written Communication from Roosevelt University and started her PHD at Roosevelt University in English. She recently finished her Master of Science in Library Information Science from Chicago State University. While Kerry lived in Chicago she worked for a lot of great places that Chicagoans and guests to this great city love to visit like the Chicago Zoology Society, Peggy Norbert Nature Museum, Art Institute of Chicago and Pritzker Military Museum.
She announced proudly on Facebook that she got the job as a Library Scientist at the University of Phoenix in Arizona. Kerry truly lived life to its fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with friends, playing with her nephews and niece and neighbors children, creating art, loved animals, talking politics, reading books and singing loudly and without abandon. She was a consummate adventurer not scared to try new things. Kerry had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.
She is survived by her mother, Jacqueline Dixon, her sisters Pamela, Lakeshia, Bertha, Dianne, brother David, uncle, Larry, nephews, nieces, aunts, and many cousins that adored her. Family and friends whose lives touched Kerry are invited to Benson Family Funeral Home to reminisce, grieve, support each other, and of course celebrate her homegoing.
In Kerry’s honor a gofundme page has been started to raise funds to start a non-profit called Kerry’s House. For 20+ years Kerry suffered from bi-polar depression, schizophrenia and multiple personality disorder. Due to the challenges as a result of the chemical imbalance, she was never able to realize how brilliant, beautiful, talented and loved she was. My life mission is to create a foundation and open a home called Kerry's House to serve as a safe haven to provide young adults with temporary housing as well as psychiatric, psychological and therapeutic counseling, life skills, love and support.
